Western Digital today starts as they claims shipping of the world’s largest capacity SATA hard drive. The company’s Caviar Green Desktop Hard Drives line gets two new models with 2.5TB and 3TB capacity, which make use of 750GB platters and feature Advanced Format technology.
The new drives have a SATA 3.0 interface, 64MB of cache and feature GreenPower technology, which reduces power consumption by enabling lower operating temperatures for increased reliability and decreases acoustical noise for quiet operation. The drives comes bundled with an AHCI-compliant Host Bus Adapter HBA, which will enable your OS to correctly recognize and use the large capacity drive.
WD Caviar Green 2.5 TB and 3 TB hard drives are available now with MSRP for $189.00 and $239.00 respectively.
