Facebook launched today a new way for people to access the Facebook site at anytime and anyplace, through a new mobile site that is optimized for speed, and includes all the key features of Facebook.
0.facebook.com is now available via more than fifty mobile operators in forty-five countries around the world.
Technology’s fastest growing areas are the social services of the internet, and the mobile internet. Facebook is the center of these two categories with more than one hundred million people using Facebook from their mobile device and more than two hundred mobile operators in eighty countries promoting the Facebook Mobile.
People around the world who use the internet face two main problems: the sometimes slow experience, and the expensive data plans.
0.facebook.com has been designed to help solve those two challenges with the hope that even more people will discover the mobile Internet with Facebook as a positive result.
The new mobile Facebook site has been designed while collaborating with operators from around the world, in order to deliver fast and free access to it, where users can update their status, like or comment on posts, view News Feeds while sending and replying to text messages, write on their friend’s wall, or just to what they usually do on Facebook.com. Users can still view any photos on Facebook, but regular data fees will apply, that is why they put the photos one click away so they do not slow the experience down.
