Despite being known for motherboards, notebooks and computer monitors, ASUS also makes smartphones. The latest proof is here and carries the PadFone S brand name.
Judging by the specs the PadFone S seems to be a premium device – the handset measures 143.93 x 72.46 x 9.98 mm and weighs 150 grams. Inside it has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor at 2.3 GHz, a 5-inch sensor Super IPS display at Full HD resolution (441 ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass protection), 3 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot for expansion, one rear 13 MP camera, one front 1.2 MP camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, a GPS receiver, LTE, support for two SIM cards and a 2300 mAh battery.
Do you feel overwhelmed by the tech specs? Don’t as there are more! The PadFone S runs Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with an optional dock station that makes the smartphone feel like a 10-inch tablet. The dock station also provides some more power for the smartphone, making it work longer and you can even add a keyboard to it if you wish.
The new ASUS PadFone S will be on the market on April 8 this year. The smartphone will sell for around USD 300.
