Bluetooth 4.0 has been around for a long time – six years to be precise – and although this standard was updated a few times, an entirely new version is needed. Don’t worry – Bluetooth 5 will be presented soon – on June 16.
As always the new communications standard will be presented by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group and as expected it will come with a number of improvements. Unfortunately the available information is not that much but we do know that Bluetooth 5 will feature four times the transmission speed and a frequency range that is two times wider. In addition the new technology will feature new functions but there’s no information on them.
Bluetooth 5 is supposed to further advance communications in the time period after this year. The technology will appear in many future devices such as smartphones, tablets, communication systems and others.
