Microsoft has been having one unpleasant problem for months – its smartphones do not sell well and fewer and fewer Lumia devices get sold on a quarterly basis. At the same time Microsoft’s warehouses are full of Lumia handsets that have to go so what do you expect Microsoft will do in this situation? Lower prices? Actually no.
In fact the US company has come up with an original solution to this problem – purchasers of the high-end Lumia 950XL smartphone are now entitled to a free Lumia 950 handset. The deal is valid at the Microsoft Store only and is actually a good one – the Lumia 950XL costs USD 649, while the Lumia 950 sells for USD 549, so for USD 649 you get smartphones that are worth over a grand. In addition to this customers are entitled to buy and get the latest Lumia smartphones and not some older models. Thus by buying the Lumia 950XL you will get a device with a 5.7-inch display at 2560 x 1440 pixels, while the Lumia 950 has a 5.2-inch screen at the same resolution. The devices are powered by Snapdragon 810 and Snapdragon 808 chipsets, respectively, and while they came out last year, they have more than enough power for today’s applications. Moreover if you buy one of the two Windows 10 Mobile-running Lumia handsets you are not required to use the services of a predetermined mobile carrier.
So how does this deal sound to you?
