The brand name Kyocera is usually associated with printers and other office equipment but the Japanese company also makes smartphones, although not on a daily basis. To prove this Kyocera has presented the new budget-oriented Hydro Wave smartphone.
The new device is available on the US market as of now and you can obtain it through T-Mobile. As the name of the smartphone suggests the Hydro Wave is a rugged smartphone that has protection against water and dirt, being able to withstand 30 minutes under up to 1 meter of water. It measures 143.8 x 72.3 x 10.7 mm and weighs 145 grams.
The Hydro Wave is available in black only and comes with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.2 GHz and Adreno 306 graphics. The smartphone offers a 5-inch sensor display at 960 x 540 pixels (220 ppi), 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal flash memory, a microSD card slot, one rear camera at 5 MP, one front camera at 2 MP, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE, a GPS receiver and a 2300 mAh battery.
The Hydro Wave runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and sells for USD 150.
