The GFXBench database has recently included two new and unannounced Samsung smartphones that are currently only known as SM-G5308W and SM-G8508S. It appears that the former model will be a budget-oriented device while the latter one will be a more capable smartphone that may present serious competition to Sony’s Xperia Z1 Compact and even Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone.
The SM-G8508S model is reported to include a 4.7-inch display at 1280 x 720 pixels and likely a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with four cores at 2.5 GHz. In addition to this hardware the smartphone will come with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal memory and two cameras – one front at 2 MP and one rear at 13 MP (possibly at 12 MP). The device supports NFC and runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
The Samsung SM-G5308W is a more budget-oriented device that is said to have a Snapdragon 410 processor, which is a 64-bit CPU at 1.2 GHz. The device is expected to come with a 5-inch display at qHD resolution (540 x 960 pixels), 1 GB of RAM, and likely 8 GB of internal memory. There are two cameras inside – a rear one at 8 MP and a front one at 2 MP. Just like the SM-G8508S this one has support for NFC and runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
There’s no information on an availability date or pricing as of now. The devices are likely to be unveiled this fall at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany.
