Having the latest flagship smartphone is always nice but sometimes you need a smartphone that you can take anywhere and that you know will survive all encountered conditions. Finding one such device has become one step easier – the maker of sturdy smartphones Sonim has released the XP6 smartphone that promises it will survive almost anywhere.
Durability has a price that is more than obvious in the XP6 – the device has a small 2.63-inch display at 432 x 320 pixels. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 technology but the inside has more to offer – the XP6 is based on a Snapdragon 400 processor (MSM8926) that runs Android 4.4 and has 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory. The device also supports Wi-Fi 802.11n, LTE, PPT and Bluetooth 4.0 and has one rear 5 MP camera. A front camera is not installed. Finally a powerful 4800 mAh battery gives power to the device. The device measures 137 x 64.5 x 20.5 mm and weights 270 grams, which is a bit too much but given its capabilities this is understandable. It is worth noting that the XP6 smartphone has unusually powerful speakers that can output 103 dBa of sound. Wow!
Let’s move to the more interesting part – the XP6 meets all MIL-STD 810G, IP68 and IP69 reliability requirements. This means the smartphone can survive 2-meter drops, temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius and as high as +55 degrees Celsius, depths of up to 2 meters and high temperature water drops. It also actively resists aggressive chemicals and materials.
The new Sonim XP6 smartphone can be yours now for USD 525.
