The US memory maker SMART Modular Technologies, specializing in memory solutions for computer subsystems, TFT displays and TV sets has presented a new line of DDR4-2133 memory in RDIMM, VLP RDIMM and SO-DIMM form factors.
As expected the new DDR4 memory runs at 1.2V compared to 1.35V and 1.5V in the DDR3 memory standard requiring 20 per cent less power. The SMART Modular memory line offers memory modules that come with capacities of 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB and run at 2133 MHz while also offering ECC technology.
Don’t hurry to buy this one yet – the first processor to officially support DDR4-2133 will be the Haswell-E, which will come out this fall.
